Having been a kid myself I understand the desire for that fluffy, white, nutritionally void, bread. I had once read that generally when you&#8217;re craving store bought white bread it&#8217;s the shortening you desire, so I needed to find a lighter, oily option that didn&#8217;t make me feel totally guilty. So I took my <a href=\"http:\/\/cornfedcrunchy.blogspot.com\/2012\/04\/everyday-wheat-bread.html\" target=\"_blank\">go to bread recipe<\/a> and looked to see what I could change to make it more kid appealing and then did a little research on white breads.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/--bLRf1hxpwg\/T_OD9crFtFI\/AAAAAAAAAcw\/aCuoGG4GjF4\/s1600\/100_5758.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/--bLRf1hxpwg\/T_OD9crFtFI\/AAAAAAAAAcw\/aCuoGG4GjF4\/s320\/100_5758.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">Obviously the oats had to go, but I refused to revert to sugar in place of honey. Most of the recipes called for powdered milk, so we added that and played with the flour ratios. My first experiment didn&#8217;t have enough whole wheat to make me happy, but it was super squishy. After a few more tries I think I have a good &#8220;kid&#8221; bread recipe to fall back on when the kids get bored of the ole standby.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-nBarckmljZ0\/T_OEAf7KCeI\/AAAAAAAAAc4\/ayKeo0P-OBA\/s1600\/100_5759.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-nBarckmljZ0\/T_OEAf7KCeI\/AAAAAAAAAc4\/ayKeo0P-OBA\/s320\/100_5759.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Ingredients (makes 2 loaves):<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">2 cups warm water<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">1 TBS yeast<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">1\/2 cup oil<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">1\/2 cup honey<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">1 1\/2 tsp salt<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">2 1\/2 tsp baking powder<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">2\/3 cup dry milk<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">2 cups WW flour (if you find your bread to dense reduce this by a cup and increase the all purpose flour)<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">4-5 cups\u00a0AP flour<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-u-xs7n26ta0\/T_OEETGbj7I\/AAAAAAAAAdA\/qmrE56Px550\/s1600\/100_5763.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-u-xs7n26ta0\/T_OEETGbj7I\/AAAAAAAAAdA\/qmrE56Px550\/s320\/100_5763.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8211; Proof yeast by combining with water and letting sit for 5 minutes<br \/>\n&#8211; Add oil and honey<br \/>\n&#8211; In another bowl combine dry ingredients. I start with 4 cups of the bread flour and add the extra later.<br \/>\n&#8211; Mix dry ingredients with wet. If it&#8217;s still sticky add additional flour in 1\/4 cup measurements. Higher humidity days will require more and dryer days will use less.<br \/>\n&#8211; Once combined knead for 10-15 minutes. Some breads I can just mix and go, but I find this one requires the kneading.<br \/>\n&#8211; Place in lightly oiled bowl and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes<br \/>\n&#8211; Lightly grease bread pans<br \/>\n&#8211; Divide dough into pans and let rise 30-45 minutes<br \/>\n&#8211; Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, until golden<br \/>\n&#8211; Slather top with butter while still warm<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-cDmjjR7By90\/T_OEHQB-4jI\/AAAAAAAAAdI\/jQnaLvWeP9A\/s1600\/100_5764.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-cDmjjR7By90\/T_OEHQB-4jI\/AAAAAAAAAdI\/jQnaLvWeP9A\/s320\/100_5764.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I have a friend who says the measure of a good bread is the ability to roll it into a ball.
