How do I know it&#8217;s a good idea? It&#8217;s something I haven&#8217;t already come across on pinterest. If it&#8217;s out there don&#8217;t burst my bubble. We&#8217;ve been out of English muffins for a while and I was due to make another batch. With fall upon us we&#8217;ve entered the season of the pumpkin flavored everything and I decided that I must have pumpkin spice English muffins. Plus we still have several jars left from <a title=\"Welcome to Fall\" href=\"http:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/welcome-to-fall\/\" target=\"_blank\">last year<\/a> and soon it&#8217;ll be pumpkin slaughter time again. I also decide<span style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; line-height: 24px;\">d<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; line-height: 24px;\"> that to increase the fun factor I needed shaped <\/span><span style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; line-height: 24px;\">English<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; line-height: 24px;\"> muffins, round is boring this year. I did a quick recipe search and after looking at a half dozen reviews or posts about the brand name <\/span><span style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; line-height: 24px;\">English<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; line-height: 24px;\"> muffin in a pumpkin spice flavor I gave up. Besides after years of watching Alton Brown I understand the science behind food and can make things up as I go along.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>You might remember this <a title=\"Self Cleaning Oven \u2013 Tricky Tip Thursday\" href=\"http:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/self-cleaning-oven-tricky-tip-thursday\/\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> in which my Better Homes and Garden&#8217;s Cookbook re<span style=\"color: #333333; font-style: normal; line-height: 24px;\">ally failed me, but their English muffin recipe is pretty straight forward and I&#8217;ve used it before so this is my adaptation.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>Ingredients:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>2 cups WW flour<\/li>\n<li>4 1\/2 tsp yeast<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp each ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, cloves<\/li>\n<li>3 1\/4-3 3\/4 AP flour<\/li>\n<li>1 cup milk<\/li>\n<li>1 cup pumpkin puree<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup butter<\/li>\n<li>2 TBS sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>cornmeal for sprinkling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Mix WW flour, spices, and yeast in mixing bowl.<\/div>\n<div>-In a microwave safe bowl combine milk and butter, warm to about 120-130 degrees and \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0butter just melts, whisk in pumpkin, sugar, salt, and vanilla.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6817.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-239\" title=\"100_6817\" src=\"http:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6817-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6817-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6817-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6817-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>-Add milk mixture to WW flour mixture, stir.<\/div>\n<div>-Add AP flour until soft dough forms<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6819.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-238\" title=\"100_6819\" src=\"http:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6819-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6819-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6819-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6819-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>-Place in greased bowl to rise about an\u00a01 hour till doubled<\/div>\n<div>-Roll dough to 1\/2 inch thick and cut with floured cutters.<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-235\" title=\"100_6822\" src=\"http:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6822-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6822-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6822-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.turkandbean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/100_6822-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<div>-Cover both sides in cornmeal, I wet my finger with water and rubbed it then sprinkled cornmeal on both sides<\/div>\n<div>-place on baking sheet to rise, about 30 min<\/div>\n<div>-Cook on griddle over medium heat.
